A giant in the world of Italian mid-century design, Pietro Fornasetti saw every object as as canvas. Inspired by both classic Italian art and the burgeoning Surrealist movement, the visionary artist and designer created a prolific collection of imaginative, otherworldly illustrations throughout his lifetime, which he used to decorate his never-ending line of furniture and home accessories — art for everyday use, as he called it. Our Fornasetti Se Poi Bocche Candle is housed in a handmade porcelain jar adorned with the lips of Fornasetti’s muse, the 19th-century opera singer Lina Cavalieri, who he created hundreds of illustrations of throughout his career. It’s topped with a delicate lid, emblazoned with a black-and-white serpent holding a single red apple in its mouth — another theme that  the artist continuously revisited in his work.
